If you can, seclude yourself in a quiet and dark space and relax until the signs of the migraine begin going away.
  2. Use hot or cold compresses – If you begin having pain in your head due to an oncoming migraine, try putting an ice pack to your head or neck. This can help to numb the pain, thereby helping relieve the migraine symptoms. A hot compress can work as well. Instead of numbing the pain, hot compresses can relax tense muscles. If you don’t have a hot compress, you can try taking a warm bath or shower for a similar effect.
  3. Drink something that’s caffeinated – Small amounts of caffeine can help to relieve migraine pain when it’s in the early stages. If you combine it with over-the-counter headache medication, such as Tylenol, caffeine can enhance the effects of acetaminophen. Just don’t drink too much caffeine as this can result in withdrawal headaches later.
